I'm working on doing a piece on Jason McCann for the Joyrides Art Co. website. He will be the next feature of the "Garage Series" following a successful debut with Brandon Holstein of Brawny Built. I will be taking photos of him and his Triumph along with a story of the build and a little background piece on him. The next Joyrides Art Co. t-shirt design will also feature his bike. We drove around Long Beach yesterday chasing the light and we finally decided to call it quits. Here are a few shots from the shoot yesterday.
Went down to Starlite Rod & Custom for their open house on Sunday. Got there super late and most of the cars were gone. I took pictures of the few that were left.
Edgar of Starlite Rod & Custom. Edgar runs Starlite Rod & Custom along with Jack. They are both real cool guys and run a solid shop. If your looking to get some work done I would recommend their shop. They know what they are doing and are up front and honest guys. They did work on my Shoebox Ford awhile back and I was really happy with the way they got the work done.
It was a busy weekend for me. Did three photoshoots and working on some other projects. It was great to get out and shoot some bikes and models again. Put a lot of effort into these shoots with different lighting techniques and locations. Hope the magazines like what I send. Have another shoot planned for during the week. Thanks Jerry and Heather for the shoot on Saturday. Scott (Scooter McRad) I owe you a lunch or dinner for helping me out on Sunday. Thanks to Mike Davis for letting me shoot with you also on Sunday. Mike has a blog also. Check it out for a lot of vintage parts and boobies. Born Loser blog.
So on Wednesday I shot some surfing shots with some of the Body Glove team riders down at Manhattan Beach Pier. I swam out with a water housing and tried taking shots from the water. Never done that before and let me tell you it is harder than shit to get a good shot. First it was hard to be in the right spot. I was either too far (most of the time) or I was to close. I'm pretty sure I pissed off this Charles Manson looking dude because we almost hit each other. Totally my fault and the guy just stared at me that could've burned a hole through me. Anyways, tried it for a while than gave up and shot some shots from the pier above. Didn't have my 200mm lens so I could get closer up shots though. Either way a bad day shooting photos at the beach beats any day in the office.
Shot with Cheyne Magnusson today for Body Glove Boardshort marketing materials. We went out to Palos Verdes and hike down trails and then a steep hill to get down to the beach. Greg Browning was out there filming for a commercial too. Working on setting up some photoshoots for this weekend. Trying to get back into the groove of things again.
