EX Drink

The company I got hired by to shoot the Paramount Rocks event.  Great drink. Tastes like apple juice.  Gives you energy and is supposed to be better for you than Red Bull.  Look for it and try it out.  For more info click here.

Everclear

The second band to play on Sunday night at Paramount Rock was Everclear. Never realized how many songs I knew of Everclear.  They played a pretty good, entertaining set.

Dive N Surf Bikini Models

Friday afternoon I went down to the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach to shoot the Dive N Surf bikini models.  I snapped off a few shots of each girl and then had to go back to the office and design a poster for them to sign later that night.  Everybody seemed to be happy with their shots although I got two names wrong on the poster.  So we did a quick reprint and out they went.

Dive N Surf Lobster Fest

Down at the Dive N Surf Lobster Fest in Redondo Beach today.  Lobster season started last night at 12 and this is part of that celebration.  Dive N Surf sponsored it and had tons of Lobster dinners, vendors, fashion show, bands and wakeboard exhibition.  Although it was overcast the place was packed.  People seemed to be enjoying themselves.  It goes on tomorrow also. So if your in the area stop by and check it out.

Shelby Kantar during the Wakeboard exhibition.  They were being pulled by a wench, hitting the rail and the finishing it off on the ramp to pull more tricks.  Although when they landed they needed to be in control to avoid ramming into a fountain pole.  I'll post photos of the bikini models starting on Monday.

Rusty Malinoski

More shots from the same Parker, Arizona trip with the Body Glove wakeboard team.  This is Rusty Malinoski.  Body Glove's top wakeboard rider and one of the top wakeboarders in the world.
Out on the river making his runs.
Late afternoon run.

While Rusty was making his run we went by this guys boat.  He was out there in the hot sun wiping it down and making it look all nice.  On the way back up, Rusty told Jeff McKee to get our boat closer to the shore.  Rusty then proceeded to jump this guys boat who just earlier was wiping it down.  He cleared it.  I don't know if the guy who owned the boat was stoked on it cause now he had to wipe it down again.

Daniel Doud Riding at Parker

Earlier this year we took a trip to V.P. of Body Glove, Billy Meistrell's Tiki Shack in Parker, Arizona.  Took the whole BG wakeboard team.  Spent a few days down there.  Did a lot of photoshoots and video.
On one of the days Billy took us to a part of the river down by the dam and there is a cliff where you can jump off.  So Rusty Malinoski, Jeff McKee and Daniel Doud climb up the hill to the cliff. Rusty and Daniel were the first two to jump off the very  top.  Which had to be 40' or more.  It was fucking high.  So high that when you jump there is so much time in between from the jump to the landing that you have time to freak out and regret that you went.  When those guys hit the water the sound was crazy.  It sounded like they hit solid ground.  After seeing those guys go Greg Browning just walked up and jump without a thought.  He had a bruised ass for over a week because of the impact.
Greg and I hiked up a hill to get a top view shot of the guys riding by. Greg wanted to rent a helicopter to shoot from but the cost was insane to rent one.  So it was plan B and a crazy hike up a hill and then back down.  This is a shot of Daniel Doud carving as he went by.

The last day of shooting.  The previous day I was wake surfing and as I was surfing I fell off and my hand got tangled in the rope.  I ended up breaking two fingers so I was shooting from the boat on the last day instead of holding on in a tube with a water housing and getting some close up shots of the guys riding.

Preseason for the  LA Kings started on Monday.  Can't wait to start watching some games.  Hopefully they do better this season than last season.  If not I'll be rooting for them to come in last place so they can get the first pick in next years draft. John Edwards Interview

I know I was supposed to have pictures and a interview posted last week on John Edwards and his Panhead. It is still coming.  I have to edit the photos and get the interview put together.  Will get it posted as fast as I can.  Also, my wife and I did a interview with Denver Dan this past Saturday. Over beers and dinner and 4 hours of talking we got some great stuff from him.  I will be working on getting his Joyrides showcase up soon.  Thanks to Brandon Holstein, Scott Parker and Nelson Kanno for sending me their thoughts and insight on Dan.  Scott your top 10 list was awesome and Nelson you poem is clearly on it's way to becoming a classic.

Random Shots

Here are some random shots that I took last year.
Shot of Rusty Malinoski at Parker, Arizona.   Rusty is one of the top wakeboarders in the world and just plain out rips!!!  It's always fun to shot with him.  Sometimes when he's riding he'll come out with ideas to get or do something random.  Like jump the nose of the chase boat, or jump over the nose of a boat docked.  He's also one of a few guys who has pulled a 1080.
Scott Smith works with me at Body Glove. He's a dive instructor and also works in our video department.  He'll go out on trips with us and shoot video and then come back and edit and put together dvd's for our company to hand out.  Scott and Greg Browning are currently working on a project called the "Drop Zone" where they went to Indo and filmed the Body Glove Team riders surfing and diving in the same trip.  It's a unique film as to no one has ever combined the two sports together on film.  I am designing all the promo material for it and we are having a premier at the DEMA show in Vegas at the Hard Rock in October.  It'll be making it's rounds with a new Warren Miller movie.  Check it out if you get a chance.

Cheyne Magnusson ripping at Rocky Point in Oahu's North Shore.  Cheyne is a classic guy.  Super cool and just fun to be around.  He surfs, dives and also skates really well.  Cheyne lived in Maui, but now spends his time in So Cal.

Mike Losness

Shooting with Mike Losness.  Mike is a great surfer and is also a very talented artist.  I think because Mike has an eye for being creative and he knows what he wants it's always easy to work with him.  He'll have an idea in his mind of a surf shot and tell me where to set up and he'll paddle out and pull the move he is thinking of.  Mike is such a easy going guy that it's always a pleasure to work with him.
This was shot in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu a few years back.  This spot was at Off The Wall.  We were shooting for Body Glove boardshort ads.

This day, Greg Browning and I drove out to San Clemente to pick up Mike.  We drove out to oceanside and Mike paddled out to get a air  shot.  We shot for awhile, but Mike didn't like what we got.  So he took us to a secret spot that he had been with another photographer before. He told me to go down the beach a ways and he'll surf towards me and pull some airs.  This spot was tricky because it was very rocky so he only had a small area to pull it off.  We shot there for a while and this was one of the shots we got.  This photo ran in a Body Glove ad last year in Transworld Surf Magazine.

Classic Saturday Morning Cartoons

Anybody remember watching this every Saturday Morning?

Laff-A-Lympics was the co-headlining segment, with Scooby-Doo, of the package Saturday morning cartoon series Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show was a spoof of the Olympics and the ABC television series Battle of the Network Stars. It featured 45 Hanna-Barbera characters organized into three teams - The Scooby Doobies, The Yogi Yahooeys and The Really Rottens - which would compete each week for gold, silver and bronze medals. One season of 16 episodes were produced in 1977-78, and eight new episodes combined with reruns for the 1978-79 season as Scooby's All-Stars.

Eryk Frias 53 Olds

I was out in the Burbank area shooting with Eryk Frias.  He owns this 53 Oldsmobile.  We met late Saturday and I jumped in his car and we drove around the Burbank area looking for places to shoot.  We found a few cool places to shoot.  Donnie Baird lives in the area so he rode his BMX to where we were and hung out for awhile.  Donnie from Imperial Customs did the paint job on the car.  The shoot is for a upcoming editorial in Car Kulture Deluxe.  So look for it soon.

Barry LaCour's Panhead

Shot with Barry LaCour today in Huntington Beach.  Spent some time shooting his Panhead for a upcoming magazine editorial. Also did a photoshoot with Eryk Frias and his awesome 53 Oldsmobile.  Been a busy weekend.  In the middle of all that I was redoing my studio.  Laying down new flooring and throwing up some new paint.  Got it all done on the weekend.  Now all I got left to do is buy some shelves and hang some photos.  I'll post a few pics from Saturday's photoshoot with Eryk tomorrow.

Denver Dan and the Chainsaw

Couple of photos from the photoshoot with Denver Dan. We drove around Burbank that day and found a couple of cool spots to shoot at. A few of them we were trespassing on, but we got the shot.  If you haven't picked up your copy of The Horse yet, go out and get it and read the article on Denver Dan.
