Day 1 On The North Shore -Hawaii

Spending the week in Hawaii on the North Shore shooting some surfing for the week.  Spent all day on the beach today getting a few shots to work with.  More to come tomorrow.  Got a sequence shot of Jamie O'Brien trying something new and different at Backdoor today as well. Word in the line up is that Wednesday is supposed to be the day that will be the best of the season.  Sun is out and the surf is pumping.  Looking forward to shooting more surf throughout the week.

Cheyne Magnusson Photoshoot

Drove down to Oceanside today with Greg Browning to get some lifestyle shots and video of Cheyne Magnusson for upcoming Body Glove marketing material. So we did a few shots at Cheyne's house and then took off to go get some skating shots at O-Side City Hall area.

Greg was trying to get a real quick clip for a intro but was shut down security. So we packed up and left. Oh well, still better than sitting in the office all day!

Shot with Cheyne Magnusson today for Body Glove Boardshort marketing materials. We went out to Palos Verdes and hike down trails and then a steep hill to get down to the beach. Greg Browning was out there filming for a commercial too. Working on setting up some photoshoots for this weekend. Trying to get back into the groove of things again.

Downtown LA Photoshoot

Went down to LA this past Monday to go shoot with Cheyne Magnusson for Body Glove Wetsuits.  Working on some new stuff for upcoming ads we are doing this year for SURFER, Surfing and Transworld Surf Mag.  Greg Browning (Director of the Drive Thru Series on Fuel TV) was there also filming to create commercials for Body Glove to use on the web site and Surfline.com.  If some of you watch MTV still Cheyne was on the show Maui Fever.  So when we were shooting a car drove by and yelled, "Beat it Maui Fever!"  We had a good laugh at that because we were more surprised the guy knew who Cheyne was.

Here's another shot of Cheyne on the breakwall.  Got lucky to catch the splash on the rocks.  We went out today down to LA to shoot some more lifestyle shots of Cheyne.  I'll post some of those shots tomorrow.  Big swell supposed to hit this Friday and through the weekend.  Cheyne may be headed down to Mexico to do possible tow ins.  I may be shooting around here with Dusty Payne this weekend to get some surf shots.  Haven't shot surfing in awhile so it'll be nice to get some new shots.

Cheyne Magnusson Photoshoot

Did a photoshoot with Cheyne Magnusson today down at the Redondo Beach Breakwall.  We took out Scott Daley and Greg Browning's boat so we can get shots from the water.  Scott had to back up the boat pretty close to the breakwall so I could get the shot.  We were shooting away and way down on the beach the lifeguard must have seen us close so he got on his bull horn and pretty much told us to beat it.  When we got into the harbor the Harbor Patrol was on their way out to bust us.  Scott smoothed things over and we were done.

More Cheyne Shots

Drove down to Oceanside yesterday to shoot some product lifestyle shots with Cheyne Magnusson yesterday at his house.  He has a really killer place.  On top of a hill that over looks down to the beach.  Insane set up and really laid back vibe at his place.  Thanks Cheyne for loaning me $20 bucks.  I owe you. Took my daughter to Pedro Tacos in San Clemente for lunch on the way back.  The Combo Burrito and Rolled Tacos are the best.  Hey Nelson, you can add that to your Mexican restaurant list of places to try for off topic Sundays!

Cheyne Magnusson Photoshoot

Did a real quick photoshoot today with Cheyne Magnusson for Body Glove Japan clothing.  Cheyne is a team rider for Body Glove.  He's from Maui, but recently moved down to Oceanside, Ca.  Cheyne rips in surfing as well as skateboarding.  He's also a avid freediver and loves to spear fish and shit.  He's one of those all around watermen and he's super cool and fun to hang out with.

Random Shots

Here are some random shots that I took last year.

Shot of Rusty Malinoski at Parker, Arizona.   Rusty is one of the top wakeboarders in the world and just plain out rips!!!  It's always fun to shot with him.  Sometimes when he's riding he'll come out with ideas to get or do something random.  Like jump the nose of the chase boat, or jump over the nose of a boat docked.  He's also one of a few guys who has pulled a 1080.

Scott Smith works with me at Body Glove. He's a dive instructor and also works in our video department.  He'll go out on trips with us and shoot video and then come back and edit and put together dvd's for our company to hand out.  Scott and Greg Browning are currently working on a project called the "Drop Zone" where they went to Indo and filmed the Body Glove Team riders surfing and diving in the same trip.  It's a unique film as to no one has ever combined the two sports together on film.  I am designing all the promo material for it and we are having a premier at the DEMA show in Vegas at the Hard Rock in October.  It'll be making it's rounds with a new Warren Miller movie.  Check it out if you get a chance.  

Cheyne Magnusson ripping at Rocky Point in Oahu's North Shore.  Cheyne is a classic guy.  Super cool and just fun to be around.  He surfs, dives and also skates really well.  Cheyne lived in Maui, but now spends his time in So Cal.
